Visit the “Museum of Light” (Fénymúzeum) – one of Europe’s significant private collections of classic lighting, neon signs, vacuum technology and industrial heritage. Museum of Light Foundation.
Welcome to the website of the Museum of Light Foundation – home of the largest private lighting technology collection in Hungary and one of the most significant specialized collections in the European Union. For more than 30 years we have been dedicated to preserving the history of lighting technology, vacuum electronics, and industrial heritage. Our collection includes thousands of light sources, lamps, neon signs, technical instruments, documents, and related relics – primarily from the classic era of incandescent, gas-discharge, and cathode-ray tube technology. We operate in a hands-on, craftsman-like manner: we restore items ourselves, build custom high-vacuum systems, develop educational demonstration equipment, and actively engage in technical knowledge sharing. In addition to collection and preservation, we place increasing emphasis on vacuum technology and public education in the history of science and technology. Despite the size and importance of our collection, we receive relatively little domestic support. As a private, non-profit foundation, we rely heavily on donations, sponsorships, and the help of fellow enthusiasts – both from Hungary and abroad. On this website you will find photos, articles, and information about our work. We recommend simply browsing the image galleries – technical terms can be difficult to translate perfectly, but the objects speak for themselves.
